JOSEPH DAVID offers custom dress shirts from our custom shirt shop. Before ordering your custom shirts we need to determine the proper sizing. Here is a quick way to determine you shirt size. Simply follow these directions and measure your best fitting shirt. Once we have you measurements we can begin helping you with selecting the custom shirts that suits your style.

Please take your time looking through our assortment of shirt fabrics and styles. Note the exquisite quality of the Joseph David custom shirts and custom dress shirts. Each season, the great shirting mills of England, Italy, Switzerland and Japan reserve exclusively for us a rich assortment of high count cottons, all in rich, luxurious shades. We specialize in two-ply cottons, the standard in European cotton fabrics, for their luxurious benefits to the wearer. These cottons are without compromise - typically two ply in the warp and two ply in the weft, which makes them feel better, look better, and last longer than other yarns. For finishing flair, our single needle French seams create a smooth, high-quality appearance and soft feel.

Measure Your Existing Dress Shirt

Length Measurement

Lay your shirt on a flat surface. Place the tape measure on the base of your neck (where the collar meets the shoulders on a dress shirt) measure the distance to the point where your shirt ends. Record your length measurement to the nearest full inch.

Lay your shirt on a flat surface. Take the tape measure and measure the width of the shirt from seam to seam 1/2" below the underarm of the shirt. That is half the chest measurement for your shirt. Take that number and multiply by two, this is your actual chest measurement. Record your actual chest measurement to the nearest full inch.

Start counting at the neck, and count down until you reach in between the fifth and sixth buttons on the shirt. Measure the width of the shirt from seam to seam. Take that number and multiply by two, this is your actual waist measurement. Record your actual waist measurement to the nearest full inch.  If you feel your current shirt is too large in the waist this is were you would subtract to get the taper you desire.

hips

Lay your shirt on a flat surface. Where the contour of the shirt starts to round into the shirt tails, this is the approximate location of your hips. Take the tape measure and measure the width of the shirt from seam to seam at the approximate location of the hips (where tail contour begins). Take that number and multiply by two, this is your actual hips measurement. Record to the nearest full inch.

shoulder shirt

Your shoulder measurement is the distance between the outer edges of each shoulder (shoulder seam). Take the measurement and record the result to the nearest half inch.

sleeve shirts

Measure the area from the outer edge of your shoulder (shoulder seam) to the end of your shirt cuff. Record your shoulder measurement to the nearest half inch.

Measure from the middle of the button hole to the middle of the button. If the neck on this shirt is perfect, then use the actual measurement; If a little snug, add 1/2 inch. Record to the nearest quarter inch.
